Warranty & Care for Your Shower Glass
We want your new shower glass to look great and work right for years. Here's what our warranty covers, and how to keep your glass clear and your hardware looking new.
Our 5-Year Workmanship Warranty
Every installation from Beach Glass & Window Company comes with our own 5-year labor warranty. If something isn't right because of how we installed it, we'll come back and make it right.
What's covered for 5 years:
Door adjustments and re-alignment
Leaks caused by our installation, such as a door or panel we set out of position or a seam we didn't seal properly
Hardware we installed that loosens or shifts out of position
What's not covered:
Normal wear items, like sweeps, seals and silicone, which wear over time with daily use
Leaks or silicone damage caused by harsh cleaners, like bleach, ammonia, or abrasive pads and powders
Damage from impact, misuse, or changes made by someone else
Problems caused by settling, moving walls, or tile and plumbing work done after our install
Protective Glass Coatings
A protective coating helps your glass repel water, soap scum and mineral spots, so it stays clearer and is much easier to clean. It's a great option here in Maine, where well water and hard water can leave spots fast.
We offer Diamon-Fusion, C10 and ShowerGuard. Ask us which one is the best fit for your shower when we quote your project.
Up to 15 Years on Hardware Through the Manufacturer
The hinges, clamps, handles and other hardware we install are backed by a manufacturer's hardware warranty of up to 15 years. Coverage length depends on the hardware used and when it was purchased.
Manufacturer warranties generally don't cover:
Glass panels
Seals, sweeps and gaskets (these are consumable parts)
Damage from misuse, impact or modification
Finish damage from harsh or abrasive cleaners
Corrosion from standing water or chemicals
Full manufacturer warranty terms and conditions apply. Manufacturer claims may require an inspection of the part.
Care & Cleaning Tips
A few easy habits will keep your glass clear and protect your hardware warranty:
Squeegee after every shower. It takes 30 seconds and prevents most water spots.
Use a mild, non-abrasive cleaner. A soft cloth or sponge with gentle soap works well.
Skip the harsh stuff. No ammonia, bleach, or abrasive pads or powders. They can break down silicone seams and damage coatings and hardware finishes.
Wipe hardware dry. Don't let water sit on hinges, handles and clamps.
Keep the bathroom ventilated. Run the fan or crack a window to cut down on moisture.
Check silicone and sweeps now and then. If you see gaps, cracks or a worn sweep, give us a call.
Good to know: Damage from harsh or abrasive cleaners isn't covered by our workmanship warranty and can void the manufacturer's hardware warranty.
Insulated Glass: 10-Year Seal Warranty
The insulated glass units we install, like patio door glass and sidelites, carry a 10-year manufacturer's warranty from the date they're made. It covers seal failure, meaning visible fogging or moisture between the panes under normal conditions. If a unit fails, contact us and we'll handle the claim with the manufacturer for you. Our 5-year labor warranty covers the installation. After 5 years, the replacement glass is still covered through the manufacturer's 10-year warranty, and labor to install it is billed at our standard rate.
The manufacturer's warranty doesn't cover damage from improper cleaning, scraping tools or harsh cleaning agents, building or foundation movement, thermal breakage, or other damage after installation. If a replacement unit is supplied, it carries the rest of the original warranty period.
Mirrors
Our 5-year labor warranty covers how we install your mirror. The mirror glass itself is covered only against manufacturer defects. Desilvering (dark spots or black edges) isn't covered, because it usually comes from moisture in the room. To help prevent it, run the bathroom fan, keep cleaners off the mirror's edges, and spray cleaner onto your cloth instead of onto the mirror.
Windows
Replacement windows we install come with our 5-year labor warranty, plus the manufacturer's own warranty on the window itself. Coverage length depends on the product line, and we'll give you the details for your windows when we quote.
