Glass Shower Doors for Fiberglass & Acrylic Surrounds
Not every bathroom has a tiled shower. Many Maine homes, camps and rentals have a fiberglass or acrylic tub or shower surround, often finished with a tired old door or a shower curtain. Beach Glass & Window Company installs custom glass shower doors and enclosures on those existing surrounds, so you get the clean look of glass without tearing out the tub or shower. Our workshop is at 371 Clarks Mills Road in Dayton, and we serve homes across York and Cumberland counties, from Gray to York. When you call, you'll talk with Chris or David, the same people who measure, draw and install your glass.

What we install on fiberglass and acrylic surrounds
- Glass shower doors for one-piece shower stalls and surrounds, custom-sized to your opening.
- Glass tub doors and sliders for tub and shower combos, including options for bathrooms where a swinging door won't fit.
- Door and panel enclosures sized to your existing tub or shower.
- Glass in place of a shower curtain, which keeps water in the tub and is easier to keep clean.
- Hardware finishes from C.R. Laurence (CRL) and FHC, including polished chrome, brushed nickel, matte black, satin brass and brushed bronze, to match your faucet and fixtures.
- Glass options, including clear and low-iron glass, ShowerGuard coated glass on request, and acid-etched glass for privacy.
Why a fiberglass or acrylic surround is different
A fiberglass or acrylic surround isn't built like a tile wall. The corners can be rounded, the walls can have molded shelves and curves, and the tub or base has a molded lip. Every surround is a little different, so we look at yours closely at the walkthrough, measure it and recommend the door or enclosure that fits it properly and will last.
We bring hardware-finish and glass-type samples to every walkthrough. A full frameless shower mock-up is also on display at Devoe Color & Design Center in Biddeford.
If you're planning to replace the surround with a tiled shower instead, see our frameless glass shower enclosures. We measure once the tile is finished and work with local builders and tile setters.
Good fits for
- Camps and lake houses with older surrounds. We can schedule around when you're at camp.
- Rentals and second homes, where glass holds up better than a curtain that needs replacing.
- Bathroom refreshes, when the surround is in good shape but the door is dated or broken, or there's only a curtain.
- Kids' and guest baths, where glass on the tub keeps water off the floor.
How it works
- Walkthrough. We measure your tub or shower surround and talk through door style, glass and hardware.
- Design, drawing and estimate. You get a drawing with dimensions, door swing, glass spec and finish, and a free, itemized estimate. Nothing is ordered until you approve it.
- Fabrication. Glass is fabricated locally. Typical turnaround is 3–6 weeks from measure to install.
- Installation. We install on your schedule and clean up before we leave. If there's ever an issue, we'll make it right at no cost to you.
